Subject: Cold Weather Stall.... IP: Logged
Message: I have an 02 3.9L auto with about 30K miles on it. These past few days in New York, the tamps have been around 0 degrees. My truck seems to run fine when it warms up, but today when i came home after running to the store before the snow came, i put the tyruck in park and after idling for a few seconds, the engine died. I started it up, everyhitng was fine, gave it a little gas, the RPMs came back to idle and then dropped and the engine died again. I dont know what the problem could be, it seems to be running fine. Maybe its just the cold weather?

any help would be awesome.
Thanks,

Message: maceacernb how many miles on the truck ?
& we were just talking earlier in the week
about cold weather, it could possible be moisture in the tank.

Message: Lots of miles about 350,000km
I thought about moisture in the tank, but it runs fine in the warm, but not in the cold, i read some other threads with the same prob, talkin about might be coolant temp sensor, i might try that since its cheep and easy.

Message: Same problem with a 99 3.9 4x4 sport. It will start up and die a few times then it will finally start and run, originally thought it was the battery, but it does stay running after a few tries.
Did I mention that the 3.9 is a dog? I can't believe they actually put this engine in a truck, and the funny thing is they put it in the rams too...lol

Message: just had a cold stalling issue...would not hold idle for bout first minute then wiould run fine..worse in colder temps..searched the board...there were no codes btw...from info gathered here(am grateful) I disconnected battery, pulled throttle body and IAC,Cleaned IAC and its port and under TB reinstalled...good as new...dont sweat disconnecting battery..and if there was a code it will clear by that method(had a p/s code that is gone now)...after doing repairs I would take it for a good 5-10 mile run at least in case it needs to relearn..I'm very pleased..
