Subject: Dies then no restart for 20mins. IP: Logged
Message: 94 Dodge Dakota 4x4 ext cab V6 mangnum
Problem: Truck runs great...no set time or things happening...it will up and shutdown....and not restart. After exactly 20minutes it will restart and run fine.
Replaced: Full tuneup, crank sensor, coils, iac, and a few more things i cant remember.
It has been to the dealer and even towed there 5times. Dealer is clueless on this problem and has charged about 1k in replacement parts that dont help so far. They are rude and unhelpful. Not sure what else to do. Gonna take it to a mechanic on Monday in hopes he can fix it.
Its a plow truck with only about 35k miles on it and in beautiful shape. Its not fun driving it in the -17 weather and not having it restart for 20minutes..expecially when you are in the road in the snow =(
Any help or ideas would be appreciated. My memory isnt that great but i remember we tried starting the truck on ether after it stalled and it woudlnt even fire...so i would rule out the fuelpump..etc. Someone mentioned wiring under the fusebox in the engine compartment..but i cant seem to find the post or reply.
Any help ...expecially with pictures of the probs...would be greatly appreciated.

Message: i remember reading some posts on here that mention a splice in the factory wiring harness under the main fuse box that sometimes has to be redone. maybe that's a place to start. sorry i couldn't be of more help than that.

Message: This is probably the third time i have put this in a post. I saved it from an older post, I think this is your problem.
"Right below the underhood fusebox, about 8" down the harness is a splice (#115), from that splice, it powers the PCM, Fuel Pump, and Coil. All four wires are Red/white, one comes from the fusebox, two go right back up to the relays, and the fourth goes the opposite direction to the PCM. You will have to unbolt the fusebox, pull it out of the way, and cut open the tape on the harness to find the splice.
I guess what happens is that water gets into the fusebox, drains down the harness, and eventually corrodes the splice into green powder (oxidized copper). You cannot tell if it is bad by looking at it, you will have to cut the tape off of the splice and inspect the connection. If you see and green or white residue on the connection under the tape, it has started to go bad and needs to be re-done (preferably by soldering).
