I AM GETTING CONFLICTING INFO ON THE BELLY PAN
GASKET.I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT IT IS METAL FOR THE
V6 3.9 .THE DEALER SOLD ME A FIBER OR PAPER ONE,
AND DIDNT KNOW WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT.THE MECHANICS TOLD ME IT WAS METAL TOO.DOES ANYONE
KNOW FOR SURE? 98 3.9L SPORT.

From what I've heard the new updated belly pans are metal. I haven't changed mine yet but its on the "list of things to do"

WELL I HAVE FINALLY FOUND THE PROOF.AFTER SOME HARD WORK I HAVE THE TSB IN HAND AND THE REVISED
PARTS LIST FOR THE BELLY PAN OR PLENUM GASKET.
IT IS NOT METAL BUT FIBER WITH SILICONE ON IT.
MAYBE THIS WILL HELP SOMEBODY ELSE.

I installed the Hughes Engines plate on my V6 and it came with the factory printoseal gasket (fiber). I ordered a FelPro intake gasket set and it had a steel reinforeced composition belly pan gasket in the set. I chose to use the Felpro belly gasket because the steel renforcement eliminates the possibilty of the gasket sucking in under manifold vacumm. Felpro is very good at solving these quirky sealing problems that show up from time to time on late model automobliles.

THATS EXCELENT INFORMATION ON THE FELPRO GASKET KIT.I HAVE TO HAVE MY TRUCK BACK TOGETHER TODAY,
SO I AM OUT OF TIME TO GET THAT,BUT NEXT TIME.
