Subject: no heat IP: Logged
Message: I have a 98 v6 which won't put out any heat. I've changed the thermostst and flushed the cooling system (including the heater core) front and back, but still nothing. I live in northern Canada and it's been between -20 and -45 celsius the last couple of weeks so some heat would be nice. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

Message: I didn't have heat in my 90 Dakota for a long time. Turned out to be the heater fan resister, a $9 part, taking 1 minute to install. Heat is back to working great.

Message: I've notcied my 97 V6 doesn't put out much heat either. When the truck is at running temp (only when i got the fan on low) if I turn the fan up to the 3rd or 4th setting it drops the running temp a little bit and blows colder air.

Message: What I suggest all of you try is to reverse the hoses(bottom to top top to bottom) going into your heater core fron the engine. It only takes a minute to do and often it solves the no heat problem.

Message: I also have a 90 Dakota with poor heat. Where is this heater fan resistor located that I can replace and where is cheap place to purchase it?

Message: This is probably a stupid reply, but are you sure your heater core doesn't need to be replaced? Did one on my buddy's ranger the other day for 20 bucks. I'm sure you would notice the anti-freeze in your floorboard though if it was bad.
