 Subject: Stalling

In September I purchase a 1997 red club cab dakota with 102,000 mi. As of the last month or so when I start it, it starts for a second then it goes to idel but does so roughly and stalls. Then yesterday I was pulling in to the school parking lot it sounded like it wanted to stall and I have not check any codes yet and dont know how.

Oh one thing I forgot to mention was if I put it in gear before it stalls it runs fine

Just had my idle air control replaced for the same symptoms. Mine would stall when put into park or reverse. The other day it stalled after putting in drive and wouldn't restart. It would crank put it wasn't getting any air. Hope this helps.
