Subject: Check Engine light IP: Logged
Message: Hello,
I have been lurking around for a few days reading posts. I just bought a 1995 Dakota with the 3.9. The check engine light comes on after I start driving and does not go out. I did some of the obvious things that I felt the truck needed over the weekend (plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor, pcv valve, and air filter)and the light remains. Took it to the local Ozone...I mean Autozone and they did the key on..key off deal and read the flashing lights. Told me that what they read meant no codes stored. Had no idea why the light is on. Can anyone help?
By the way, I have learned much from this site already. Thank you all for sharing your knowledge.

Message: Update
I found a site for the codes thanks to a member here and I read the code myself. What I got was a 32. Looking at the list (http://allpar.com/fix/80s-codes.html)
there are three 32 codes listed. One says that it is 1984 only, one says 1988, and one says 1990-92 all but Turbo. Since mine is a '95 where do I go from here. Any help would be appreciated.

Message: Thank you Dan. Now there are more variables to tackle to see exactly what is causing the problem within the EGR loop. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Message: I have a 97 dakota with the check engine light problem. I have done the key on/off like the website tell you too. (http://allpar.com/fix/80s-codes.html)
I dont get the flashing "check engine" light, but in the miles area a #12 shows up.
According to the codes a #12 is Battery or computer recently disconnected. I havent disconnected the battery recently or the computer to my knowledge. I have put in new plugs, wires and both O2 sensors.
Does the "check engine" light get reset by the computer or is that manual thing to do???
Mike
