Subject: v6 headers: Gibson or JBA?
IP: Logged

Message:
I was thinking of changing the headers to get more power, but have heard mixed things about this and have a few questions about how it affects OUR v6 engines, and NOT how it affects v8s.

The first question is if there is a significant performance/quality/CARB-exempt status difference between Gibson headers and JBA [or whatever that J** acronym is]?

The second question I have is if there is a significant performance increase over the stock headers in HP and Torque, or are we talking about spending $400 to make less than 7 new horsepower?

For reference, I have the 3.9L matched to the AX-15 5speed transmission, and I will be adding a air induction system to it, and possibly a larger throttle body. But the throttle body would probably be the last thing I add.

I am also VERY concerned about it still passing smog, as California is very anal and I don't want to have to store spare parts and swap them around every 2 years.

thanks!
