Message: i threw a rod in my truck laast thursday when i was in 2 feet of snow. i herd i threw a rod because the snow could have made my oil cold leading it to lock up my oil pump which caused it to over heat. but im sure me high revving it didnt help either. anyways i have a 98 3.9, and i bought a 3.9 out of a 94 i know that the 94 has 5 more horespower and 1 mile better gas mileage. does anybody know anything major i'd have to change. im already changing some sensors and intake.

Message: the only diff between the motors is the intake
94 had egr
98 no egr
use the 98 intake and all will bolt up and run fine

Message: I did the same type of engine change on my Dakota, a 92 engine to a 97 Dakota. I had to use the 97 intake and also had to use the 97 flexplate cause the 92 didnt mate up with my Tranny.I had to drop the Tranny to change it, hopefully you can avoid the exra work I did.
