Message: you prolly don't care this much, but you asked for it (and its been a loooong time since i bragged about my system):
old home brew: amd athlon 1.4ghz, 768mb ddr ram, 260gb total in maxtor 7200rpm hdds, gainward nvidia geforce fx 5200 vid card with 256mb ddr vid ram, kds avitron monitor (old-school trinitron flat crt) with .22 dot pitch, new (xmas!) altec lansing 3-piece speakers, 52x24x52 liteon cdrw, 12x dvd, homebrew cpu cooling tower on top of a swiftech MCX370-0A, creative sb live! sound card, a4tech wireless optical 5-button mouse, $2 (!) plain keyboard, enermax case with top and rear fans, side case window with fan, blue cold cathode interior light, enermax 400w PSU, APC UPS, win 2k, office xp, D-Link wireless network with print server, roadrunner cable "service" (or lack of), yadda yadda yadda.
even older home brew now used as a www/ftp/file server: p3 500mhz, 384mb ram, 40gb hdd, no monitor, no sound card, no keyboard, no mouse, no vid card.
:)
that, plus the fact that i was until recently a full-time student with near 0 employment for 3 years, can start to give an idea as to why my signature line remains fairly empty 5 years after buying the truck.

Message: Dude...Jeff...you freakin crack me up!
I might as well add to my post...I'll give the stats of mine. You got me beat, but yeah.
My main pc...
Enermax case (like this... http://www.enermax.com.tw/products_cases2.php?Tid=2&gon=230&Gid=29&Gid2=18), AMD Athlon 2.167Ghz, Asus nForce2 motherboard, 512 mb ddr ram, 80gb 7200 rpm Maxtor hd, GeForce 4 MX-440 128mb, standard 17" Philips monitor, Toshiba 16x/48x speed DVD-ROM, 52x24x52 CDRW drive, PCI 56k V92 modem (just in case...lol), Soundblaster Audigy sound card, Creative 5.1 sound system that is currently a 2.1 system since I can't get my output to handle the 5.1 for some odd reason (and it's pissing me off!!!)--previously a Creative Inspire 2.1 system, Enermax 350w ps, 10/100Mbps ethernet card, 104 key ps2 "enhanced" keyboard, standard ps2 optical scroll mouse, windows xp pro (cracked), office xp (cracked), well...I'll plead the 5th on the rest of the software I got...lol
I got my webserver upstairs...basically a guest computer/webserver. AMD K62-400 cpu, 360mb sd ram, dual harddrives...4gb and 20gb, cheap soundcard with no drivers loaded, cheap video card, 10/100mbps ethernet card, windows 2000 pro (would like to run something more linux-based, but I am clueless on using linux currently), Apache webserver.
Same [lack of] RoadRunner cable service, wired network.
I too was a full-time college student...for about one quarter. I just recently dropped out and was gonna transfer to the local community college, but I missed registration so now I gotta wait til the fall semester starts. My dad's gonna kill me when he finds out since I haven't told him yet. I'm quitting my job and trying to find one I enjoy more and that prolly pays a lot less. The content on my car domain page prolly won't be changing much for a while...lol

Message: That puts my PC's to shame Jeff. At work I have a 1G workstation and I also have a 1G laptop that I take home. Both have 1G of memory. At home I have a AMD Duron 800 that I first build in Feb of 2001. I replaced the MB in july of last year. It has 512M of memory.
I just moved into a house and my cable internet has not been installed yet (will be 5th). I may go to wireless, but the house is wired already.

Message: You guys would be embaressed to know the speed of the laptop that I'm using right now to write this, drum roll please here are the specs:
300 mhz Pentium 2
6 gig hd
256 megabytes of memory
The point is it doesn't have to be the latest and greatest for email. I'm using this laptop primarily for automotive software I recently purchased. It works fine for that. I have the pieces to build a new desktop, just havent got it together yet.
By the way, I didn[t know people were still using the old commode-door 64.
92 and 97 Daks both with many mods.

Message: When I was into PC gaming, I was more interested into building a top-of-the-line PC. Those days have faded. I have spent maybe $400 on pc parts and such (besides blank CDs) since I built my duron 800 in 2001. My email server at home runs on a Pentium 75 with 64M of memory and 2-2G hard drives. My Web/SQL server runs on Pentium II 400. Both can serve more than my cable connection can handle.
More money for tools and fishing gear and also trips to enjoy the dakota.

Message: No, I never met Bill Gates, just wanted to buy things other than mods. I have the older dakota lots of mods, but could've gotten more if I skipped the computer or the Porsche <--- Mods are even more expensive on the Boxster, I put a good 15K into it.
