Subject: oil pump,valve heads.rockers IP: Logged
Message: ive found a 1997 dakota the body is in perfect coniditon soo is the interior,but its got some problems after messing wit it for a couple hours jumping it off,pooring gas in the carbarator we got it to start when it did the engine began to shake after running for like a min we cut it off then we opend the oil and the top of the motor isent getting oil, but the bottom is anywayz ive been looking around and cant find the heads for it,
but what i wanna know is is this truck worth fixing the owner only wants 700 for it. thank you in advance

Message: its a v6 i take it,
NO KNOCKING IN MOTOR
it sounds like its sludged up,
pull the valve covers to see how sludged up it is,if its bad pull the oil pan and intake,
CLEAN INSIDE OF MOTOR the best you can and flush with kerosene with a catch pan and clean push rods inside,this is how the rockers get oil
put a new oil pump,clean the pick up tube and screen,
put back together,you should be good to go
yes this sounds like a good buy and about $80 in gaskets and oil pump,and a days work
