Subject: 87 dakota question IP: Logged
Message: I have a 1987 Dakota with only 83,000 miles that are original. I put more money in it that it is worth. Now for all of a sudden when it rains out side it kicks pulls, and stalls and sometimes wont start. I figured since it rains it would be an electrical problem so I replaced the wires and spark plugs also replaced the pick up coil in side of the distributor. Also bought a new distributor cap with copper instead of the aluminum thought might be trapping moisture. Also checked the EGR valve but seems to be fine and the choke on the carb seems to be working alright anyone know what this problem could possiblely be?

Message: Check the ignition wire between ditributor cap and coil, I have this as a cause of ignition problems. Also check the coil, sometimes these can become intermittent causing problems. Another possiblity, disconnect the conector from the computer and inspect the connections for corrision (greenish looking), if you find any use a cue-tip dipped in alchol and clean. I had a corrided connection on the computer plug causing backfire problems. Good Luck and report back what you find.
92 and 97 Daks both with many mods.
