Subject: Spark Plug Wires IP: Logged
Message: Hello, first message on this board, but I've read a lot of info here in the past. I have a 99 SLT 2WD w/ 3.9. I've got 97K on it right now and was wondering what the recommended time frame is for changing the spark plug wires. Mine have never been changed, but my MPG has slipped some. I'm currently getting about 17-18 MPG. Also, what would be a good replacement plug wire? My truck is bone stock with no mods whatsoever.
Thanks - Shane

Message: I change every 30K, to keep the engine in top tune. Belden is a good brand that NAPA carries.

Message: I change mine about every 30k miles as well. Pretty much anything napa sells is better quality than autozone or advance (I think anyway).
I have been using autolight plugs for a while (couple years) and recently (10k miles and about 3 months ago) autolight wires and am happy with them.

Message: if you need to replace it, do so. Alot of people here have opted to go with an upgraded cap/rotor.
You didn't mention, but you're changing plugs too right? Be sure to check them to see if there are any issues with them.
you might also check out the pcv value and air filter if you have not alrady.
