 Subject: Used JBA Headers

I was just searching EBAY under Dakota and saw a used set of
JBA headers for a 3.9 V6 for 50 bucks. Does this sound like a
safe way to start some mods? Cash is tight now.

If cash is tight then no headers or exhaust for that matter. It wont give u the seat of ur pants improovement.
Throttle body grinding is good an cheap about $20 worth of stuff if u have the dremel already.
Its pretty much intake side mods then u will feel ur investment in exhaust.
If u do exhaust first u will feel no diff except for maybe a little loss in low end.

Thanks Just Looking. The same guy on EBAY has a ported 5.9
throttle body cheap and a stock 3.9 one cheap (starts at $15.)
Maybe I should start here first. I guess I would just need a new
cable and gasket for the 5.9 body. It looks Ok, price is right and
I wouldn't have to mess around with the dremel tool.

Be carefull of used JBA headers, they crack!
Mine are cracked in several places, and I have had them welded once before.
I want to get new ones but not the regular steel kind but I want the stainless steel so they are less prone to cracking. But they cost like $450!!

The 5.9L (48mm) ported is overkill for a 3.9L. you need to look for a stock 5.9 or a ported v6 TB(42,44,46mm).46mm being the best and the best to port.You may have any size MM on your v6.You'll see small improvements for small mm ported TB's if it's not smaller than the one you have.If the v6 is a 46mm by all means get it that's a good one to port.Stock v8 TB's are a good choice if you don't mind changing out your cable (20-30$)I have a v6 ported TB, don't know what mm, I'll sell cheap. make up a homebrewed cold air intake and swap out your stock muffler for a dynomax or flowmaster,etc. And your on your way.

I changed the throttle body on my 3.9 to a stock V8, best thing I did yet, night and day difference above 3500 RPM. I bought a group of 4 that were all slightly different, but really all the same when it came down to it. 2 of the 4 had the correct throttle cable connection for the V6 as well so they are out there.
