my 97 is idling at about 2500-3000 rpm. I have cleaned the throttle body thoroughly..a whole can of carb cleaner..,metered the tps, cleaned the air solenoid, etc. The idle adj. screw is where it out to be, when running the butterflies are closed . Replaced the air solenoid and had the same prob. Returned the new part...$88 worth.. After cleaning it idled at about 1500 then after some hard driving, ran right. Started running high again tonight. I live in charlotte, nc, extreme temp not really a prob. here. Any ideas?

Check the TPS center wire and good ground key
on engine not running open and close the throttle
a few times and be sure it always returns to the
same low volts .3 to .8 range and always return
to the same volts say .5 than always .5 if it
hangs up it will race as you describe

check all elec connections and grounds
main back of motor to fire wall
engine comp ground by alt

Drive 40mph for 3 miles this will adjust the IAC
idle air control
