Subject: OBD II code P1391 IP: Logged
Message: I just bought a 96 Dodge Dakota with the V-6, auto trans. the check engine light is on, by turning the ignition on and off I got a code of 11 and I took it to Autozone, and the used the scan tool and retrieved the code P1391 which means there is a intermittent loss of crankshaft position signal, the vehicle runs great, there are no problems, to try to trouble shoot it, i disconneted the Crankshaft Position signal and then the vehicle would not start, so I figure that the CPS is good, need help with this please, I also disconnected the battery, it shut the check engine light off, but about 5 to 10 miles later the light comes back on. might just take the bulb out. LOL

Checke the voltage going to the cps, is it steady? cps is most likely bad, its not terribly uncommong for those things to go out
