Message: a question probly more for larry
I have a 94 dakota 5 speed 4x4 ext. cab slt
ok first off when i shift if i don't shift just right i get a clunking noise or if i leave it in a gear and tap the gas it will clunk higher pitch when i hit it and when i let off it will clunk deeper, and the second thing when i put it in 4 wheel drive it will not clunk when i hit the gas but if i'm stoped and turn the wheel all the way to one side and go it will hop really big (i know its normal for a 4x4 to do it a little but this is huge) if someone could tell me whats wrong it would be really helpful, by buddy this its the transfer case but i don't know for sure and my local autoshop says its normal

Message: The hopping while turned is normal but if its
excesive I would check the CV half shaft joints
posible bad ball joint or wheel bearing amplifying
the normal hopping.
The trasfer case will not do something more by
just turning the wheels all the way one way or
the other.
The clunk is either a bad U Joint on year drive
shaft, excessive spline wear on the yoke or to
much back lash in the rear end
A bad motor or trans mount can also creat a clunk
These would be the things to check out
