 Subject: Exhaust Questions

How many different types of exhaust systems are there? The only I know of are stock, cat-back, and dual. What is cat-back anyway? And which will work best for my stock 3.9? Is either better suited for getting muddy? Thanks alot guys.

First, a muffler is not going to give any performance gains on our V6. So, the only other thing to look at is the sound from your exhaust. I chose the Dynomax 17748, and i love it. It's much deeper than stock, and not extremely loud. Everyone has complemented the nice tone at idle, and a few thought it was a V8.
All i did was replace the muffler...easy. Also, it only costed about $80, so a lot of money was saved.
At first it sounds cheap and a little ricey, but after 2000 miles, it sounds so sweet. I gurantee this is the best muffler for the money.

how is a muffler not going to give any gains? Freeing up air flow usually always increasing it even if its just a teeny bit. My Intake didnt crap intill i did my exhaust then i jumped up 2mpg and a noticeably diffrence in response

A muffler just changes the exhaust note and a little flow. I meant a whole exhaust system. From the headers to the cat, all the pipes and muffler included. Like true duals is two cats, each to their own pipes and own seperate mufflers. I have no idea what "cat-back" or "dual cat-back" is. Thanks for the muffler tip though, much appreciated :)

i'm not sure so don't quote me on this, but i think that a cat-back system would be an aftermarket exhaust system or kit installed at the cat and runs to the back of the truck, meaning the pipes and muffler. therefore it would be a system from the cat-back like the name implies. a dual cat-back would be the same except in a dual application. i'm almost sure that's right, but i only heard from somewhere so someone correct if i'm wrong.
