Message: Tim, could be a few things, the most common thing to go wrong is the vacuum line to the panel that controls the switching of where the air comes out, but its suppose to go to floor/defrost as default. (if the vacuum line broke that's where the air would come from)
You could have a problem with the control panel, or door that controls the direction of the air.
some place around the brake booster there are a couple of ports for vacuum, chek to see if any lines are cracked, or broken. try to repair if they are and check again. Your engine should be running when you try to see if the air direction is working or not. (so you will have vacuum)
Sorry I can't be of more help.
Good Luck

Message: I have an 04 Dakota, and I'm hoping you could help.
I have both heat and AC, and all vents work except for defrost. When I go to defrost, all the air comes out of the foot vents.
I looked under the drivers side of the dash, and the little wheel/motor that controls the direction of air seems to be working - although I wouldnt know if it wasnt going all the way.
Any suggestions?
Thanks, Dak911

The problem is on the passenger side, It blows Ice cold air at the same time the drivers side is HOT, It switches between floor, dash and defrost but the passenger side, dash and floor is always cold
