Subject: Poor Chevy Guy...LOL IP: Logged
Message: Lets see, I was coming back from my buds house. Went to pick up the movie I Robot, and came to a stop light. Seeing in my rear view mirror this Chevy, 1500 ext. cab, slightly lifted, hauling arse. So when the light turned green I took off faster than normal for him to stay behind. So he pushed up next to me. Taunting I guess, so I kept by him, and thought lets see how this new 3.7L can do. So I edged my nose to his to get a fare start. Mind you, I'm down low in RPM's in 3rd. So I hear his truck go WOT, then I went WOT, instead of downshifting, cause that wouldnt be fare to him. So instead of him bolting off, I stuck right beside him all the way down the street. Until I was getting closer to my peak HP at 5200. So I double clutched into 4th at 5000 and my truck spung infront of him and threw the traps (railroad crossing)and he got stuck at the red light, was yellow when I went threw. So, I just cruised the rest of the way home with the biggest smile on my face. From ear to ear. :) This engine is one mean little 6er. I thought it was a good race, I love those neck to neck ones. But my Dak came up top this time. I guess Bigger isn't better. And I thank Dodge for updated the 3.9 to this little badboy.

Message: while i am not one to promote street racing, i will say i also have the new 6 and it performs really well. Plenty of power all over the RPM range. I noticed you said you could not tell if your open diff or have the trac lock. You should have a sticker close to the spring hanger on the passenger side stating "open" or "trac-lok" and what ratio rear end you have just so you can be sure.

Message: Really the 3.7 liberty gets 17's it was probably a 4.3 in a heavy truck thats why you won

Message: There are several people that can tell you that the 3.7l in the Liberty is a dog. It's a totally different animal in the Dakota.
I feel pretty confident that it couldn't have been a 4.3L. I especially don't think a lifted full sized 1500 pickup with a 4.3L would have given him such a good run.
Whether you choose to believe it or not, the new 3.7l is really amazing in the Dakota. If I had never ridden in one you'd never get me to believe that it was just a little 3.7l.

Message: Timbline is right, its totaly different in a dak. Plus, why underpower a full size pickup thats lifted with a 4.3L. Plus, the 3.7L can beat Xtremes, so if that truck was so, I would tore him a new one. (badly) Stock the 3.7L runs very low 16's. Not true? Check out this links from Jeremy04/3.7's Dak.

P.S. The Chevy was not modded.
All I got was a K&N drop-in and a 40 Flow

Message: Why, during a street race, would you double clutch an upshift. That would slow you down, why not power shift or shift normaly.

Message: I have to agree with Daddio, I'm from Georgia and I thought we were supose to do stuff backwords. The only differnce is we call speed shifting power shifting...just keeping your foot planted on the floor while shifting.

Message: I'm in southern SOCAL, and yes, I did powershift into 4th, (never let off the gas), but also refer to it as double clutching, at least thats what those rice burners tell me.

Message: I thought it was wrong. I figured the same thing, that you press the clutch twice while shifting, guess my co-worker dont know much about it. I told him, I was powershifting, but he said its double clutching. Sry, for the confusion. All in all, good race, but Chevy look out for this new engine.
