Subject: Snow Tires IP: Logged
Message: I have 1 2x4 1999 Dodge Dakota Sport. I live in Michigan and winter is just around the corner. I wanted to know what a the largest tires would be I could put on my truck with the best traction for winter, without putting a lift on my truck. I snowboard quite a bit so I'm constantly driving in the snow and I can't afford to upgrade to a 4x4 yet. Any help would be appreciated.

Message: Cooper ST they do very well on icy snow covered
roads
235 75 15 or 16
You will love the traction
around $90 to $100 each but well worth the money
Also put 2 5 gal buckets of sand 1 each rear
corner of box for weight and if you ever do get
stuck just throw the sand under your tires and
drive away
I have been running on cooper tires on all my
vehicles very good tires

Message: Run BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A's you will love the traction you get from those and they arent too pricey either. I run them on my 4x4 and have driven through 2 ft of snow pushing with my grill.
(I am at school in Houghton Mi. the snow capitol)

Message: Larry, The sand is a great idea, antoher trick I have used in the past is to keep a couple of bundles of 3 tab shingles in the truck, if you need traction, one under each wheel and getty-up and go.
92 and 97 Daks both with many mods.

Message: The coopers are great, I'm running 30x950-15 Discoverer s/t's on my 94 dakota. They work great in mud and snow. I use my truck for search and rescue here in Northern Arizona, lots of mud this time of year...

Message: get yourself a hitch and a hitch mounted winch. hehe. I had an 85 ranger when i lived in indiana, it sucked driving that light POS in snow. Of course, then I worked at a grocery store and "borrowed" a couple 80lb bag of water softner salt. That's why when i bought my dakota i got 4x4!
