I have done it. It sounds good, but I went with the 21 inch cherry bomb. But yeah. Its easy to do, and kinda inexpensive.

i've got 2 stainless steel, slant cut tips on my 95 dakota. they are glasspacks with louvers facing the rear. so very little sound gets muffled. no muffler, just straight pipes with the glasspacks sticking out the rear end.

i have gutted my cat and i have a 12 inch glass pack with the tips that u buy at napa that look kinda good not redneck tips but almost like a mini import exhaust and mine sounds good i think it is loud and sounds like a flowmaster kinda

i have a glass pack coming off the cat and 3inch pipe all the way back to 5inch tips and its loud but it makes my v6 sound like a v8 it was about 250 for it all

i have a 92 v-6 and put a 20 inch pack on it. i run 2 1/2" single out the rear. it sounds great, mean sounding, i will also do the same to the 99 i just bought good luck with it.
