Message: while on my way to work, my usual route, a @#%$&* schoolbus decided to make a left turn right in front of me and my dak! not good. the whole front from the driver side headlight to the passenger fender is screwed. what really po'ed me is that as i got outta my truck and a witness was asking if i was alright, the bus driver came around and asked "where was he?". like the dumazz didn't even see me. my dak was in great shape, an '00 QC w/ only 43k and no probs whatsoever. this bites. waiting on her insurance people to call me back. she probably hasn't even reported the accident yet! i need a vehicle now to get to work. thanks for listening guys. i just had to get that out. hope everyones day is going better than mine is.
Happy Holidays!

Sorry to hear about the accident with your truck. I hope you didn't suffer any ill affects from it. Since your the first one that that has access to 2005 dak with the 4.7 liter, maybe you could give us your impressions and perspective about the new dak. Give us you likes and dislikes on this truck, we would all be much greatful-Thanks.

Message: lucky.
when i've dealt with other people's insurance they promised they would rent me a vehicle, then tried to stick me in a freakin geo metro.
i told em i'm 6'2", they just didn't care.
hope everything works out for you, and watch out for your own insurance to try to raise your rates.

Message: thanks everyone! so far i am being taken care of. the '05 is pretty cool. so far here are a few pro's & con's:
Pro: 4.7, bigger than GenIII,(this thing sits about as high as a Chevy 1500), Sure Grip 3.55(leaves 2 nice black marks)!, body color bumpers
Cons: Seating(hard as a rock), the body lines are too square, backseat headrests obstruct view, no oil pressure gauge, cheap looking woodgrain plastic in the center of the dash, in fact the whole interior has a real cheapy plastic look too it.
just thank the man that noone was hurt. I just want my dak back like it was before. one thing for sure, i stopped by the bodyshop where it is and talked to the owner. both front fenders have to be replaced, i told him to get '02 or above fenders to do away with my V6 magnum badges, and that i had a custom grill insert.($5.00 worth of gutterguard from LOWE'S). he said no problem, he'll take care of it. he couldn't believe it was an '00, he thought maybe an '03 or '02 at least. sorry for ramblin' but i miss my dak!

Message: That sucks about the truck (95 CC 3.9 4x4), I felt the same way when someone drove straight in a turning lane only and hit me as i was turning in front of them (turning and straight lane). And this was about 3 months after I bought it!
And his insurance company was going to give me a midsize car. I told them this was unacceptable, I want a truck. They tried to whine something about cost, policy, etc. I politely stated that I didn't care what their policy stated, I couldn't help that their customer didn't understand a turning lane and that I owned a truck because i liked trucks and I was not going to accept a midsize car as a suitable replacement for a midsize truck.
The gave me a ford f150 ext cab with triton V8. It came from enterprize, not sure if this one didn't have dak's or they just had rented them all out.
Drive the snot out of that 05 and then post your views again!! We're all interested.

Message: a couple more observations on this '05 rental i got:
the tailgate feels about 1/2 the weight as my '00 tailgate. and i kinda like the big(about 6") diameter speedo. a nice thing to have on the rear seats on the QC is the option to fold the back of the seat down for easier access to things like the jack or amps and possibly the option to take the rear seat out completely like on the caravans. be great for those really large items on rainy days.
Oh Dan, believe me, i am driving the snot out of it!

Message: to add to my thoughts of this '05:
i am not sure what SLT package it is but, the body color bumpers look great(black/black). and the only badging/decals are on the tailgate ONLY! that is way cool. 4.7 w/3.55 LSD hooks up pretty good.
power windows, power locks(no buttons inside, only on the key?)am/fm/cd, cruise and tilt. the tilt is like my wife's MAZDA. some kinda lever hidden in the left of the steering column. no notches, it locks in any position. now it's time to go drive it some more!:)

Message: YOUR A LUCKY ONE MAN! When i got my daks front fender fixed,(the wifes fault....i should get her a chevy she can wreck. lol.) anyways, when i got my fender fixed, I got to drive some 94 Ford Ranger. 4WD, but it didn't work. so i tested the two wheel drive and took it up a doozie of a hill called the widowmaker. Didn't make it far. Thats probably cause its a cheap ford. But really, I am thinking bout the '05. I have wanted to test it to possibly buy, but yeah. I don't like rock hard seats. I wanted to put the seats to my 86 Chrysler fifth avenue in my dak. (Might I add they were plush leather) WHOA off the subject. HAVE A HAPPY CHRISTMAHAUNAKWANZZAKAH!

Message: GOOD NEWS! So far the Dak is not totalled! estimate now is @ $6,365. they are going to start teardown and revise estimate as necesary.
That's a relief!
Now, the '05 rental i am driving, there is NO GenIII parts on here. A-arms upper & lower are cast and the balljoints are either pressed in or it's all 1 piece. haven't been able to get a good look yet.
Man this thing is thirsty though, 110 and the gauge reads below 1/2! and i thought my '00 QC was bad. the rental is nice but, can't wait to get MY Dak back.

Message: in a previous life, a company i worked at used enterprise, I liked them. Then I had my truck in the shop for some work and they gave me a crappy chevy cavalier from enterprise. The front passenger seatbelt locked several times, both while someone was using it and not in use (locked from the time wife and i went inside a store until we got done). Enterprise refused to come get us / bring us a replacement car. I told them this was a huge safety issue and they told me to use the back seat. They would however trade the car if I bring it to them (local stores were all closed) to the airport location which was about 50 miles from where I was at.
I complained to the dealer and to enterprise and all i got was "we're sorry".
anyways I would like to test drive an 05, but the closest 2 dealers to me suck and i'm rarely near any of the others. Thanks for the good review!!

Message: What about the body shop you have your truck is in? Did the other insurance company decide were you would take it or did you get to decide?. All body shops are not the same, I only trust I body here in the Puget Sound region, they have earned my trust if I need body work on any vehicle. it goes to them. I know if Larry from J and J Auto was out here where I live, I would be one of his customers. Good Luck with truck repairs and have a Merry Christmas-Daddio.

Message: wadak, her ins pays and i picked the body shop. i can't believe it's going so smooth. it's been a really long time since i have had any bodywork done on a vehicle i asked a everyone i knew that had work done lately. only 2 reputable shops around here and i chose the one that could get right on it. talked to the manager already and after they are finished my truck will totally de-badged. no more "V6 MAGNUM" on the fenders or "Dakota SPORT" on the doors. i have already taken everything else off(Quad Cab, Dodge, etc...)
