Subject: Not Shifting Into Overdrive IP: Logged
Message: Today I noticed that the transmission on my 99 dakota was not shifting into overdrive. I thought it might be the output speed sensor, so I replace it and it didn't help. Anyone have any suggestions?!? If so is it an easy fix? Thanks alot

Message: Are you in a cold climate? They dont shift into OD until tranny reaches a certain temp.......or your all retards and speak to hear yourselves. Except the guy who asked the most logical question and got ripped on.
or your not pushing the button hard enough :)
solutions: 1. Hit yourself in the head with a hammer (everyone all at once.)
2. Run the truck to Mexico and back and see if it still malfunctions.
3. Install a 727 behind a hot la or sic rb block.
4. Do some reading in the previous posts.

Message: Is O/D not shifting or lockup
1-2
2-3
3-O/D
O/D lockup
The button on the dash shuts O/D off but lockup
will still go on around 45mph
Which one is not working.
in the 99 the O/D lockup and line presure are all
comp controlled
shut O/D off light on drive and see if it shifts
1-2
2-3
3-lockup
If lockup you can either mod the change valve or
replace it with an upgraded version from sonnax
and the prob will be solved.
If O/D either bad sol or broken spring in 3-4
accumulator, the broken spring is rare but does
happen and will give a very harsh 3-O/D shift or
none at all
You can also jack the truck up and do a forced shift
Here is a site that will explain the operation and
how to check this
http://www.atraonline.com/manuals/general/tetdv/tetdv-toc.htm
Also some trucks came with a trans temp sensor and
if it goes bad it will not lockup sending a cold
signal to the comp, on trucks without it will not
lock up under 100 120 degrees
Or dirt can also cause this
check all connections and grounds to trans there
was also a TSB (tech service bulliton on a trans
ground
