Subject: 3" exhaust IP: Logged
Message: 92 and 93 v6 dakotas have 3" exhaust. Will a hi-flow muffler help gain hp or not? If so, what 3x3 muffler is best?

the dynomax 11748 or flowmaster 50 with a single
2.5 tail has always shown the best resaults on
dyno tests

Message: The exhaust on 92 and 93 v6 dakotas is 3". The only years that differ are these two. I found a dynomax super turbo #22740 at www.rockauto.com that is a direct fit for these trucks. Thanks Larry, for responding.

Message: OOps, the Dynomax won't work. It's a 2.5x2.5. Found a Flowmaster Deltaflow 40 series #943042 that will work ($73.56 at www.autopartsauthority.com/performance). As far as I can tell Dynomax doesn't make one to fit.

Message: I'm not saying you can't use 3" without adapters, or that this isn't a good choice, I'm just saying the *stock* setup is 2.5" in and out.

Message: Bob Lincoln: If you have a 92, and your exhaust is 2.5", somebody has been messing with your truck. Why would flowmaster sell 3" exhaust systems (direct fit) for the 92 if the stock system is 2.5? Seems a little funny.

Message: 93clubcab4x4, what can I tell you? My brother bought the truck new, replaced the catcon at the Dodge dealer with the OEM part; I just replaced everything back from the cat with Maremont stock parts, and it called for a 2.5" in and out, and it fit. Regardless, it breathes well with a K&N drop-in filter and slightly-bored out TB (took the torque step lip off).
