Message: Hello All
For once I'm not posting because I have a problem, in actuality I'm starting to take interest in doing some basic upgrades to the 99. I've done a few things, Swapped Tstat, speed sensor and changed power steering pump and I think I'm catching the bug. I like my truck and would like to keep it running good for a couple more years. Plus I hate all dealers and the feeling of getting ripped off everywhere I go which, I have no doubt I am.
Anyway going to put the Taylor 8mm plug wires, 3293 AL and Napa Rotor which I've read about earlier.
My real question is for my STAT. When I swapped out the last one I got a 160 (live in San Diego) and it's been bugging me for a while. Want to put a 180 back in. What would you recommend for a good STAT and where can I get it? I'm a total amature at this so please full description would be appreciated. Also, I've had trouble in the summer running my AC and my temp is always over the setting (EX 160 would read 185 or beyond). Anything I could do. Nothing more frustrating then driving in Vegas at 110 degrees outside I can't run my air.
Other then the tune up (above) what would be a good second thing to do. Money is a factor.
Thanks as always
Greg

Message: I would suggest the Stant Superstant. I got mine at Pep Boys for about $10. I tried 2 other 180 degree stats and they ran less than 180 . The Superstant runs at 182 and seems to give the most power and better mileage.
