Subject: bad t-stat? IP: Logged
Message: I finally figured out the "Check Gages" problem. It only happens when I am sitting still for a long period in gear (drive up ATM). My coolant temp rises until it gets into the red. As soon as I start driving, the light goes off and the temp goes right back down to normal. Is this a bad t-stat? sensor? fan? I am putting in an electric fan and 180 degree t-stat in the spring. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas? Thanks.

Message: since your temp goes down when you move it sounds like a fan problem... if the t-stat was left open you would always be cool... you would get a check engine light for not warming up fast enough...well now if it was stuck shut it would over heat no matter how fast you move.

Message: 1 7/16" wrench is what you need. Definitely worth it IMO.

Message: A 12 INCH ADJUSTABLE WRENCH?... what, do you think i am made of money? ;) i probably should because i found four 10" wrenches at my dad's house and they don't open up enough.
rotax - i like the spay-on on the rocker panels! i saw a dak with that done down in South Padre Island Texas last September (was it you?j/k).
low99dakota...will do!

Message: No , I just got my dak in january and have never been to Texas. I used the herculiner bedliner and i put it on with a roller and brush , came out real nice. Buy a craftsman wrench , replaced for life, and they open up a little more.
