Subject: 93 Dakota, Dead computer? IP: Logged
Message: Hi all! I have a '93 Dakota 3.9L Auto. Won't start. I get no codes at all from the computer, fuel pump doesn't kick in, relays don't kick in, ignition won't give spark. I tested the wiring at the computer harness and all the circuits seem good & the circuit for the engine light is good. I figure the SMEC is dead (computer). Ideas?

Message: check the wiring under hood drivers side about 1ft from fuse box theres three wires that splice together that corroides,
you,ll need to untape the wiring harness from the box to get to them clean, soldier them together, retape,
this gives alot of problems to others on here

Message: Have you checked the wiring harness
under or close to the underhood fusebox ?
Look for a splice of 3 or 4 wires
redo this connection ( probably corroded )
If this Already done - try exchange the ASD
relay with one of the others..

Message: The ASD shutdown relay is good. Wiring is good, tested it all with ye old multimeter. Picked up an SMEC for $50 today, I'll try that tonight.
