I have a 04 3.7 with the new NV3500, i was disapointed when it took a dumy at 10000 miles. I was under the impression that it is supost to be better than the AX15 or, the mitsubitshi tranny they have in the kotas wiht the 3.9, along with the S-10 and ranger. All and all i did get a new tranny for free (they waranteed it)

Here is what i was told was wrong with it.

1. 1st and 2nd gears were making a really lound grinding noise
2. it would pop out of 3rd gear, for ex. if you are leaving a stop light u go through the normal shifts 1st@10mph 2nd@about 15 to 20mph, and 3rd@ 25mph, well when i was in third for no longer that 2 seconds it would "shift its self". But that only hapened when it was warmed up
3. it wouldnt always go in to gear, like on a cold start i would have the cluth pushed to the floor board, and go to put it into 1st or reverse, and all it would do is grind.

hopefully no one else will have to worry about the new NV3500 tranny...

Mine happened at 6000 miles on my '04 3.7. !st and 2nd and 3rd grinded real bad and finally it all ripped out. Also got a new tranny too...seems to be more and more a common problem.

Well, so far so good with mine thank goodness. Everything seems to be working just fine. Let's hope that my luck keeps up and I don't have any problems.

Now every little thing that I hear will have me worried. :o)

The tranny is a good one, but only needs to have some bugs worked out of it. I do like driving mine alot though, i have had it for 4 or 5 months, and already have almost 12K on it

guess i need to quit drining it sooo much

i've got an '00 3.9 w/NV3500 w/50k and have had no probs at all. granted it is not the smoothest shifting trans i've owned but i does ok. i guess an aftermarket shifter would fix that. the one thing i don't like about it is the large ratio diff between 2nd and 3rd gear.
