Just thought i would drop you everyone a line and tell you how i smoked a ford focus. We were at a light, and homeboy had a 12 inch pipe coming out the back with a huge wing. I blew him away off the line, had him about 2 car lenths then he backed off. All i have done to my truck is as follows:
Flowmaster 40 muffler
v8 throttle body
relocated IAT
360 Air Intake/650CFM K/N Fliter
180 Degree Thermo

I plan on putting on 1.7 RR
Headers
4:56 Gears
Adjusting stroke to 92MM
SuperCharger

Maybe the added weight of his mods slowed him up a little. My girl friends focus walks all over me. Its a fun car to drive.

Who gets beat by a focus, or a galant. I never have problems with those cars.

Do all the internal engine work, you will really notice the difference. I have a nice cam, polished and ported heads, 1.6 rr's, modified intake manifold. Then add all the cheap bolt-ons. Be sure to upgrade the Throttle body, it makes a nice gain.

Hey JFH, for the intake manifold, and
polished and ported heads how much should it run, and how much hp/tq would i gain? Do you feel it when it is done? With those mods as well as the ones i'm going to do what should my 1/4 mile be, and 0-60? I don't feel like spending 5,000 on a supercharger and only lose a second on the 1/4 mile times if you know what i mean, for that i would just spend 1700 on a 5.9 motor and get the same results. And yes you can get a 5.9 motor for 1700 dollars. thanks for the input.

I only paid for parts, so I can't tell you what labor would cost. Call around to a few shops and see what they say. As for power, I definatly felt a differecne. Don't know any Dina results, but so far my best 1/4 time is 15.3 with street tires and 3.23 gears. Getting a L/S with 3.90's soon. Should break the 15 sec. mark easily. I am currenly looking into the supercharger, or building a turbo setup. Not sure if I wanna spend the money on that or just finish building my 426 HEMI and installing that.

1.7's are a great mod. Really opens it up from about 2500 rpms to 5000. I dont know if i would waste the money on the headers... if you do, cut the crappy 2.25" collectors off, have a set of 2.5" welded on and have a custom y-pipe made up. I know that's a lot to do to a set of new headers but it's the only way they'll make power... probably be best to buy somebodies used headers.

another thing i would suggest is a msd 6a or 6al ignition with some 8.5 wires and aftermarket coil.

"I plan on putting on 1.7 RR

4:56 Gears
Adjusting stroke to 92MM
SuperCharger"

"I don't feel like spending 5,000 on a supercharger"

LOL!!

i agree... superchargers are a waste of money on the 3.9. If you do anything, get nitrous or if you have money or skills, build up a turbo setup.

Why would you race with your Dakota? I mean, I love my truck, but if I want to go racing and smoke people, I have a heavily modded '81 mustang that does that job very nicely... Trucks are for haulin' and 4x4in', not racing.
