Subject: Adjust idle on 89 3,9 IP: Logged
Message: Sorry for the simpleton question, but I just bought this 89 4x4 with 3.9 for $600. Although it was neglected for routine service it is basically sound. Can the idle be adjusted just by turning the head on the solenoid that bottoms out the throttle lever or is there another procedure? Thanks for the help.

Message: yes,
some call this the KICKER motor, others the idle stop motor,
sounds like the motor[solenoid] isn,t working,
when you turn the key on you should hear a clicking sound for a few seconds under the hood and this same sound when you turn the key off,
if not then theres no power to motor or bad motor,
