have you checked the connection at the sending unit. mine gets bad causing my gauge to read low. you can have pressure checked with a mechanical gauge before you mess with the pump.

I'm in the process of changing one right now on a 2001, 2WD, V6. There are several posts on this forum about changing the oil pump. Basically you have to unbolt the oil pan, support the motor, and unbolt the motor mounts, then raise the motor until you can pull out the oil pan. After this is should be easy to replace the pump and screen. I've got to go get a hoist tomorrow, to try to get the motor higher.
