Subject: Best Exuast setup IP: Logged
Message: Ok, I tried everything and I could not stop my truck from sounding like a Honda wanna be. what I did was I got a dynomax single in/ single out and had a y pipe put on with 2 tail pipes. Now you cannot hear it in the cab and it doest sound like a stupid flow master on a V6.

Personally...if I am gonna pay for cool sounding exhaust, I wanna be able to hear it. Hence the reason why I had a "stupid flowmaster" put on my truck with a turndown under the bed.

Message: The more mods you do the better the exhaust will sound. More poewr = better sound. I love the way mine sounds, I have the same setup as Josh. A flowmaster 40 with a turn down under the bed. JBA headers and a hi-flow cat.

Message: Hmmm...how do you guys think it'd sound with a dual out Flowmaster and 2 turndowns under the bed? Louder and more agressive, the same, or just plain sh!ttier?

Message: I think it would sound like one of those guys who drives a saturn and thinks its a civic. Honslty I have never hear a v6 that sounded good unless it was quite. Im pissed at the fast and the fourous movie, at first I thought it was a good movie. now I cant sleep and night cause everyone wants there 1986 dodge shadow to sound like a Toyota Supra. This will be my lats v6. Its good on gas and thats about it.

You'd probably be right if my Dakota was a 4 banger...but normally V6's don't sound like 4 bangers.

I think that if you turn them up upwards, they would resonate against the bed giving you more bass.
Ok, just kidding.

Message: lol... do you think it'd sound cooler if I welded them against the bottom of the bed making a good tight seal? You know sort of like a sealed sub box? :)

Message: In my opinion, the Dynomax 17748 on my V6 beats the crap outta the annoying ricer flowmaster 40. Some people like a lot of noise tho, but not me. Also, the Dynomax isnt "quiet" either, if some were wondering.

Message: You can get some really nice sound out of a v6, though the most unique sound definately comes from a done inline 6. Not that that has any relevance in terms of Dakotas, but yeah.

Message: ok....my 98 Dak with a Flowmaster 40 series and Pacesetter High Flow cat, and Mopar CAI...sounds pretty damn good. Sounds like a V8 until around 3k then it still sounds nice, not gonna lie...kinda like a supra. Yes I love the sound of Import V6's...so this would sound amazing to me. What it comes down to is personal preference. and Im done writing...because Jacoby Ellsbury just stole home on the sox game...and Im gonna really watch it now.

Message: That question/post might get better answered in the "off road" or "lifted Dakotas" boards.
Asking and attaching it to a post marked
"best exhaust set up" won't get you alot of results.
