Message: i was having a similar problem with my 93 last year. i would check into the age of your radiator, if its stock like mine was, chances are it needs to be replaced. mine looked fine till i barely touched the cooling fins and they disintegrated. just take a look at it with a flashlight or in good light and try touching it lightly. but either way its a good idea to replace the radiator, coolant, and thermostat. good luck

Message: I had a similar problem on my '94 Dakota (3.9 V6).I replaced the fan clutch because it was worn out, which did help some, but when I would drive on the interstate, the temp gauge would be about 3/4 over almost running hot.Just normal driving I was fine,55 & under I would say. But anyway,I wound up having to replace my radiator because the tank had a small crack in it.I found a replacement that had metal tanks on it,& havent had a days trouble out of it since. Knock on wood.
Hope this helps.

Message: Update.
I changed the thermostat, that seemed simple, in/out. but there was so little room for me to get the bolts back in . it took about an hour to put 2 bolts back in!!!agrivating, i took the gasket sealent and stuck the bold to the rachet lol it worked.
anyway, after that i found a cord upluged that goes
above that section and maybe it was a sensor problem without it. It shifts better now, i guess the sensor was telling it to shift wrong. it would always be reve'd up above 2000 rpms at the wrong times.
I think it's fixed, it runs cooler. 180 degree thermostat. I havn't had it above 65 though.

Message: I'm hoping that your problem is solved, but I have to agree with the others: you probably need a new radiator. they are available for around $150
