Message: Just got a new cat and a single in/out super trubo muffler. Called the muffler shop to get prices on a tail pipe. I told them I either wanted a y pipe with dual tails or just a single pipe. They told me duals will soud bad and kill my performance. Is this true?

Message: True duals will... single in/dual out wouldn't. From the sound clips I've heard, they sound pretty good.

Message: single exit with dual pipes MIGHT sound bad, but that's just a guess since i've never heard that kind of setup in person before. a single pipe sounds alright. i'm running a flowmaster 40 series with the stock pipes and it sounds pretty good to me, but i heard it on another dakota with single in/dual out setup and wish i had went that way now. if you have enough money you could try the dual pipes first and then swap later if you don't like it. just make sure they run the right diameter and you won't lose anything, i think 2" would be a safe bet.
