 Subject: 87 DDtruck EGR won't shut off

I have replaced the vacuum hoses and egr, new plugs wires distributer cap, cleaned carburater new air cleaner and the check EGR light stays on and I can't get it off. Can I reset the light or is something not right?

If I remember correctly there is a little button behind the instrument cluster or cluster panel.
