Message: I have a 97 Dakota 3.9 auto. I left out for a job this AM and it ran OK. On the way back, it wouldn't shift out of first but I let up on the gas and it went into second but wouldn't go..slipping. Tried shifting with the gear shift and same thing. When I let up on gas in second it went but I think I might have been in third gear. I was in downtown area so I never got it over 45 mph. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I replaced sensors and fluid and filter 15K ago.

Message: These trans are very fluid sensitive
Chrysler ATF +4
Or
Amsoil universal synthetic only
No cheap fluids or dextron
97 they had probs with the 42RE presure sensor and
solonoid going bad, around $200 for the upgraded
replacement unit from chrysler
Also check all the elec connections on trans
clean and plug back in and try it
