Message: just got my 3.9 mag back together..went to start it and it wont start. engine turns over and I get a popping sound from the trottlebody like its burning the fuel. also I get a fuel smell from the exhaust. pretty sure the timing is correct . I alligned the gears and the dist gear to the right spots. whats the prob? Im kind of on borrowed time because my chevy van has 300,000 miles on it and is just barely getting me from point a to b . help please !!!!!

Message: Your valve timing might be off, or plug wires might be crossed. Run a compression check and see what your getting, that will tell ya about your valve timing, it should be anywhere from 150-180 is a good pressure, dodge rates a minimum 100psi. if all cylinders are kind of low compression then your valve timing is off. check the compression and then let me know

Message: Dist pos determines fuel injector sync
Spark timing comes from CPS sensor ( top of tranny
bellhousing just to passenger side of )
The rotor delivers the spark to the " right "
cylinder

Message: Mark89 -=- check the wiring UNDER that relay
you will find a splice of 3 or 4 wires
probably corroded or otherwise
Clean up wires and redo the splice
