Subject: How much can it take IP: Logged
Message: I've got a friend who owns a 93 V6 Magnum dakota automatic. He claims that standing at a dead stop and them mashing it down helps the truck run better he does this every few days or so to keep it running good or so he claims, I tell him its not gonna be good to do that so often as the tranny will go out sooner. He also claims its a 318 with two cyl shaved off? My question is how long can this motor take this abuse?

Message: yes it is a 318 minus 2 cylinders.. so it is as druable as the 5.2L. conversley, the tranny wont take the abuse, not for long anyways. unless the tranny is built-up that is :-)
The STOCK automatics leave something to be desired (in the durability department) but the engine itself is a ROCK! just keep up on the maint. and iw should see many more stoplight romps ;-P though its not good for fuel mileage LOL!
just my .02

Message: I do the same thing to mine. Mostly to blow out carbon out the exhaust. 200000 miler and still going. I rev mine to it's shift points of nearly 4800 RPMs and the trannsy still shifts nicely. Though it was rebuilt at 33000 miles.
