Subject: Adjusting windshield wipers IP: Logged
Message: I have an '89 dakota and the windshield wipers are acting up. When I turn them on they tend to overshoot the windshield, that is they go too far to the driver's side of the windshield. The driver's side wiper tends to go onto the a-pillar and then bounce back, missing some of the windshield. How can I fix this? I need new blade inserts but would really like to fix this problem before I install them. Thanks.

Message: The arms are seated onto a splined shaft. First, index the arm to the truck so that you can put the arm on pretty close to where it is now. Lift up the release and pull the arm straight up off of the shaft. Replace the arm back onto the shaft one or two clicks away from the cowl and test. Thats it!! Note mine comes pretty close to the weather strip at the bottom of the windshield. One more click to the counter-clockwise would send it onto my cowl. Course period of splines is not as precise as newer cars.
