Message: 1.) Dealer parts isnt gonna sell you jack for cost. Expect at least 40% markup, these guys gotta get paid too ya know.
2.) The tensioner and bypass hose may be dealer only but no way in hell is that thermo gasket And autozone website had the thermogasket for my year 99 so try looking again.
3.) the best part prices you will get are from non chain parts places. Look in your phonebook these are the stores dealers use for Aftermarket parts themeselves and usually there 40% cheaper at least than autozone/napa/discount.

Message: You can get all the items from Summit racing, Jegs or Mancini Racing. I'd contact all 3 and see which one is cheapest. I've done business with all 3 and never had a problem.

Message: When you go to autozone, napa, etc., are you asking for those specific part numbers? Places like that usually carry different brands and part #'s. Tell them your vehicle and see if they can look the parts up on the computer.

That usually doesnt fly very well. Try carrying your own steak, potatoes, and beans to your favorite resturant and ask them if they will cook them up for you. You will get the same response.

Message: $400 IS good. I just got the estimate for my 92 Dak with V-6. To replace:
harmonic balancer
timing chain with new tensioner
timing chain cover
water pump
gaskets
serpentine tensioner (broken)
etc parts
plus 6 hours' labor, is $995.
On top of that, my transfer case shaft seal is leaking, and fluid low. To replace that, flush and refill that, and flush and refill front and rear differentials, is another $300. Ouch.
