Subject: Same problem different answers IP: Logged
Message: I've heard a lot of people saying they have a clanking when making a slow tight turn. Some people said that dealers told them it was the differential. Or that something in the steering column had to be adjusted. And some others I can't remember. I have this problem too, and I took it to the dealer, and they said I have a torn boot on the front axle and the grease drained out and the bearing went bad. It's just kind of weird is all. Maybe there's a few different things that can cause a very similar problem. It just worries me because I'm thinking I'm gonna be bringing my truck to the dealer five times before I get the problem solved. Well for the boot at least, I'm gonna bring it to my local shop. I deliver auto parts so I have a good idea what most parts are supposed to cost, and I hate knowing I got ripped off at the dealer.

Message: Yes if its a clanking sound while turning it very well is possible, just crawl underneath the truck and look at the axles, if you see a boot it torn and slinging grease then more than likely you'll need an axle
