Anyone ever chassis dyno a 97 3.9L
If so what results have you seen, and with what mods. Factory specs say 175HP stock, but likely a big lie.
Any info appreciated

a rule of thumb multiply by .8
most stock dyno between 100 to 140 some are better
than others all trucks a little differant
depending on state of tune
Mine dyno's at 179 RWHP but I have all the mods
done to my stock motor
Soon stroker will be back in my truck

Message: Unless I'm mistaking here Larry's stroker originally made just over 300 hp at the crank before all of his last upgrades which included bigger custom made pistons and I'm sure a few other things... I beleive he was also experimenting with a bigger tb as well or he was going to make a couple of different dyno's with each tb to see which one was best for his application...
I too am very interrested in knowing just how much the stroker is putting out at the rear wheels, esspecially since I beleive he's also running 4:10 gears with it...
It's more than likely closer to 300 rwhp now or even higher :))

I have used 2 different Gtech's on several runs to check my 1997 Dodge Dakota V6, with v8 Throttle body, Flowmaster 70 series and MSD ignition 10 runs averaged 135 hp at the rear wheels, since then I have added a cold air intake, F and B Throttle body and Roller Rockers. My Gtech runs were averaging about 150 hp. I had the truck dyno'ed it came out to 150 hp at 4000 rpm. I didn't like the way I was treated at this shop, the guy wanted to know why I would want to dyno a v6 Dakota condescending manner. I won't be back to his shop. Since that time I have done more to the truck, I haven't found another shop yet, I have some leads on several. I hope this information help.

Message: Larry I don't think you mentioned it, but just how much hp did the new engine put out on the dyno while you were doing the simulation runs??? I'm willing to bet that it is around 335 to 350 hp range... Esspecially since you seem quite sure that it is going to produce 300+ rwhp :))

Thanks for the info. I found a local guy here in WA state that will do 3 runs with a chassis dyno for $75 (mainly does diesel though & kinda pricey). The only 2 mods so far are C.A.I. and Flowmaster 40 series deltaflow on stock 2.5" single in/out (sounds great in/out side of truck) only a little ricey sounding on high RPM's in 3rd & 4th gear (typical for us 3.9'ers). I've debated on the V8 TB, worth the money, if so how much? I have noticed a difference with these 2 mods (CAI was made for 99-00 civic, customer connector and mount brackets and removed flap between radiator and pass. head light for better air flow. I have CAI positioned so its close to a "Ram air" setup. Any other mods that are worth attention/effort/money (that either work or are noticeable)
Thanks

Wher in Washington State are you located, I live in Washington State myself Puget Sound area. If the guy you have located will do 3 dyno runs for 75.00, better than the price I ended getting.

Message: Black-Dak, The Throttle body will give you a noticeable increase in performance. I think Larry has tested the V8 tb, the 46mm Fastman, and the 48mm F and B. The 48mm is the best but around 380 dollars. I know that there are others out there Dan Radke of Sick Throttle has had products up on Ebay. I don't know if he is advertising any products now. My email is Wadak1234@yahoo.com, contact me.
