Subject: 91' V-6 EGR IP: Logged
Message: My EGR seems to test okay if I hook a vacuum hose to it and draw a vacuum with my mouth, but it shows no movement when it is hooked up and I rev the engine to about 2000 RPM's.
It does not show any EGR code faults, but it concerns me that it is not moving.
There is a round black plastic thing about 2" around with three hose connections on it, two of the connections go to the EGR valve.
Can I bypass this? My neighbor has a 87 Dak and his EGR does not have that plastic thing.

Yes you can ' forget ' about it.
But if you want it to work that { plastic thing )
is the solenoid/exhaust pressure sensor which
sort of controls the valve opening.
They are sold only as a package $ 50.00 to $ 80.00
depending where you are , and where you get it from !!

Message: Thanks, They most likely be getting the emissions testing started again here in Conn, so I wanted to make sure the valve was working.
I know that these are sold as a complete set, since I am not getting an EGR error code, I will leave it alone for now.
