Subject: Flowmaster 70 a good choice? IP: Logged
Message: I wanted to get it with dual pipes out the back. I checked the Flowmaster website and 2.25" is the smallest diameter for duals, but I have a 3.9L. Will that sound ricey? Would the 50 Series Delta flow with dual 2" sound nicer? I don't mind if it's relatively loud, but I don't want a poppy import sound.

Message: I have a 3.9 and i put the 70 3 inch in 2 1/2 dual out muffler on my truck and it sounds good. I originaly had the 50 delta flow with 3 inch in and 2 1/2 dual out and it sounded similar just really loud. You couldn't hear anything except the muffler. I would of left it that way but i didn;t see a cop and was stomping on it and got a warning for improper exhaust cuz it was too loud. hope that helps you

Message: Thanks man, I think I'll go with the 70 series... I don't like to draw attention from the cops, they're pretty mean where I live.

Message: if your'e not stuck on flowmasters, i would suggest a system made by Heart-throb. ive got it on my 95 dakota (3.9 V6) it comes with a straight pipe that connects to the cat, a Y-pipe, dual tailpipes, and 2 muffler tips. you can get the tips either black or stainless, straight cut or angle cut. i've got the stainless angle cut ones on mine. from in the cab, they don't sound loud. you can hear them, but it's not overly obnoxious. but behind the truck you can really hear it. it produces a nice low tone. even when you get on the gas really hard. the only complaint i have is the tips won't stay in place with normal clamps. i had to buy 2 sleeve style clamps to hold them on.
the nice thing is i can take the muffler tips off if i want to be loud and obnoxious!

Message: I have the Flowmaster 70 series on 2 daks a v8 and a v6 and couldn't be happier with them. The 70 series is designed to be use on big block v8 so they flow well. It sounds go on a v6 as well.

Message: The 70 you want is 2.5 in 2.5 out, center inlet off set outlet. I have heard that the stock tailpipe fits but I'm not sure. I had the gibson split rear system on mine. I was able to make a tail pipe out of the gibson leftovers (I chose to do this because the pipes are mandral bent and the stock ones are not).

Message: I used the stock 2.5" tail pipe with mine, I believe jared described the correct one to use. There was no loss of low end torque with the 70 series muffler.

Message: I noticed that 3" in is the only option for the dual exhaust, which I really want. Can I cut the muffler into the stock system with that? If I can, what would be better, 2.5" out or 2.25" out for duals.
