Subject: 1997 V-6 Dakota wont start IP: Logged
Message: Hi I have a problem. I started my truck last night with no problems. I drove approx 2 miles to the gas station, then to the store. When I got out of the store the truck would not start. It was dark and late so I did not have a chance to troubleshoot. I had a buddy tow it home for me. This morning was the same. It wouldn't start.
Here is what I checked:
1- Spark plugs for a spark
2- Battery
3- Fuses (under hood and in driver compartment)
4- Relays under hood. Swapped out with know good ones
4- Schrader valve on fuel rail. No fuel pressure here
5- I also did not hear the fuel pump come on when the key was turned.
It seems like there is no power to the fuel pump. Am I missing something or is it the fuel pump?
I have a 1997 Dakota. V-6 Magnum engine, automatic, 56,000 miles.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Message: Check wiring to ASD relay in underhood fusebox
and possibly the harness from there back to the firewall - look for a splice of 3 or 4 wires
- inspect closely - redo with good quality joiner
or solder and tape.
There also is probably an inline connector
( for the fuel pump and sender in the tank )
very near or on, top of fuel tank
= check that this is ok.
