Subject: Exhaust Question IP: Logged
Message: I am currently running a Gibson Cat-Back split rear system in my reg cab 2003 v-6. I am not a real big fan of the sound from the Gibson. I was wondering if I could get a Flowmaster 40 or 50 series and just swap it with the Gibson muffler thats in there now, and if that would be the correct legnth to bolt right up to the Gibson pipes so the mufflers could just be a direct swap. Its a 2 1/2 in and dual 2 1/2 out muffler. Thanks for the help.

Message: The flowmaster 40 and 50 series mufflers are both shorter than the gibson. You can put a pipe in front of the muffler to componsate for the length. The closest flowmaster in length to the gibson is the 70 series. Also, You would have to call flowmaster about the distance between the outlets. The outlets on the gibson are pretty close together.
I replaced the same gibson system you have with a flowmaster 70 2.5 in 2.5 single out. I was able to use the gibson pipes to make a tail pipe that exits at the stock location.
