Subject: 3" body lift and 33's on V6 IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2000 3.9 Dakota. I am currently running 31x10.50's but I am ready to get some new tires. I would like to go up a size or two. Does anyone have any experience with a 3" body lift and 33x12.50s on a 3.9? Does it bog the engine down too much(my engine is all stock, no mods)? Also, do the tires rub and if so how much? I was also considering a 2" lift with 32x11.50's. If anyone has any advice I would really appreciate it. I dont want to do something I could regret.

Message: I was also wondering if anyone could give me some info on 2" and 3" body lifts. Like what size tires could comfortably fit on each and some kind of price range for both? Would you recommend suspension or body?

Message: Mervin-
Do a search on this topic for more info, but I have a 3.9 with a 3" BL and 33"x12.5" cooper discoverer S/T tires.
If you have 3.92 gears, you will be ok but have some bog. If the 3.55's, I wouldn't do it w/o a gear swap.
I have the 3.92's w/ glasspack and turndown exhaust, cold air w/ K&N cone filter, V8 Throttle Body, t-stat, relocated ait, and thats about it. I am ok with the power, plenty off road, but not good in the wind on interstate.
The exhaust and intake are going to help you the most if you go w/ 33's. I had no power w/ stock exhaust, ran no overdrive until i switched the exhaust and TB. Then I could run regular again.
If I redid it, I would go with 32's and not lift at all. Crank the torsion bars, trim a little if needed, and run that way. I love my lift and tires, but with the v6, i would have rather left the stock height and shove in 32's.
Just my opinion....I have run this setup for 60K miles, replaced front ball joints, bearings, brakes once since it was new. Now I am in the market for a 360 or 318...
