Subject: Engine Revs on it's own IP: Logged
Message: Recently when I am driving my 3.9 on the highway at 55-70 at a steady pace, on cruise or not it will slightly rev on it's own. At 70 mph it will run slightly over 2100 rpm and rev about 100 rpms and then return to 2100. It only takes about a half second from the time it goes up to back down. The tranny doesn't try to shift gears, engine just revs slighty. It does this in cruise and when i have my foot on the pedal at a constant speed. Does it more on cruise and on rough road. Doesn't do it much on a road that is newly paved. What could be causing this? Vacuum leak, o2 sensor??? Any help would be great. This problem seems to be getting worst and is starting to worry me.

Message: I saw something about that recently, Matt. I think concensus was that it was the TPS sensor going bad.

Message: Thanks for the info. Do you know where you saw that at? I did change the TB recently and have had a few issues with the tranny seeming to shift early at times. Think there might be a correlation between the two? Thanks for the help.

Message: Hey, Let me know what you find and if your TB swap had anything to do with it - I'm getting ready to swap mine out with a Fastman as soon as it arrives.

Message: I haven't chaged the TPS, but I did pull it off and look at it and then put it back on and it has only done that once in 200 miles of highway driving. I will try to replace the TPS tomorrow (today) just a little expensive at $72 at the dealer. Im a little hesitant to buy a product like this from a local parts store for $21. I will let you know if things are totally resloved. The Tranny seems to shift early at times under WOT, going to see if replacing the TPS helps this problem also.

Message: hey matt,
had the same similar problem. when i would drive on the intersate the rpm would go up and down sometimes to the point were it was about to stall, it also was affecting my shifting. all i did to fix the problem was to clean my iac sensor. it had so much carbon build up it took me about 20 minutes to clean it. after that the truck been running great, idling and acceleration has been alot better since.
