Subject: Limited Slip or NO? IP: Logged
Message: Hello Im not sure if I have a limited slip or not. When I power brake it only my right tire spins. When im on hard dirt roads both my tires dig in nicely. I heard im suppose to jack my back end up and spin one tire and watch what the other does.

Message: yes and no. When jacked off the ground and in neutral, an open differential will cause the opposite wheel to turn in the opposite direction as the one you're turning with your hand. The daimler corporate LSD is made by dana, and both the corporate 8.25 and dana 9.25 will cause the opposite wheel to spin in the same direction.
A zexel positraction unit found in many GM cars such as camaro/firebird uses a different type of differential that would act just as an open differential would when performing this test, so the method should be correct for your dakota.
Your clutch pack retaining clips are probably sitting at the bottom of your housing in pieces from your power breaking so cross your fingers that you didn't screw anything up and take a peak inside.
