My stock ones without the brass contacts went over 45,000 miles... so they'll prolly last you a nice long time.

actually you should replace them as a matter of preventative maintainence every 30,000 miles.

Mine is at 132,000 and I'm sure it's stock! Bought it used in "98 with 23,000 miles - and I've never touched it.

I replaced my cap and rotor last year not long after purchasing my '91 w/ about 120,000 miles on it when I performed the surgery. The cap had the Mopar stamp and it plus the rotor looked really worn so I suspect they were original equipment. Replaced with the brass Napa cap and rotor and it seemed to have a little more power and run better. Who knows, but I know I had the original cap and rotor on my old Ford truck for over 15+ years and 140,000 + miles, they go a long time but would probabally be better to replace them every 50-60,000 or so, maybe 30,000 if it makes you feel better, its easy enough to do. When it starts missing you know its time to do something!!

I recently replaced my cap and rotor with about 38,000 miles on them. I was surprised the rotor made it that long. When I took it out, the metal contact on it was about to fall off because the rivet holding it on had gotten so weak.

I would recommend staying away from all NAPA parts. In my experience as well as many stories I have heard, Napa parts are of very poor quality.

You might have a hard time convincing too many not to get the cap and rotor on this webpage. However, I would agree with you on their clutches being junk. I had one put in my Ford truck after the original went 14 years and the pressure plate broke after 2-3 years or pretty light driving. Had one put in my '91 Shadow, original one had over 130,000 miles and the replacement Napa clutch barley lasted 13 months till the pressure plate broke on it as well. Never again on their clutches, should have learned that after the first one bit the dust. I will check that rotor rivet one day and see how it looks, just in case it is weakening like yours did.
